It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s a…. raptor! MNAEP has reserved a tour of the Gabbert Raptor Center on Saturday, May 18th at 2:30pm. The Gabbert Raptor Center was established in 1974 as part of the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine. The Raptor Center sees around 1,000 sick and injured raptors each year in their clinic, as well as helping to identify emerging environmental issues related to raptor health and populations. This internationally renowned education facility trains veterinary students and veterinarians from around the world to become future leaders in raptor medicine and conservation. This event is open to members and non-members of MNAEP. Attendance fee is : $3 for ages 3-17, $5 for ages 18-62 and $3 for ages 62+. Please email to RSVP by May 6th if you plan to attend this event, to help us give the facility a final count.
Prior to MNAEP’s tour of this fantastic facility, we will be celebrating our 2nd Anniversary as a State Chapter of NAEP. We will be holding a picnic lunch for our members and their families at the Como Park West Picnic Area (see map). The Board will be serving up the main course of burgers, hot dogs, and veggie patties, as well as soda and water. Since we are close knit community, we ask our members to sign-up to bring one of their favorite BBQ sides to share with their other fellow members, as well as any MNAEP family members that would also like to attend. If you plan to participate in the picnic, please email us at minnesotaaep@gmail.com for a link to a signup sheet.
